London calling! I'm going to London tomorrow! Any tips for me?? London is home to my first love: musicals!! I bought some tickets and can't wait to see some singing and dancing :) Can't wait to see my London friends either! Remember Kayla? And now, introducing Dave: Dave is my crazy musician friend :) He moved to London a couple years ago in pursuit of his music career. You've definitely heard him play his drums at a festival somewhere already. I showed him around the city when I was studying in London at the time and we stayed in touch ever since.
Born in Belgium
Favorite quote Live as if you would die tomorrow, learn as if you would live forever!
“I’ve lived here since …” 2006.
“I came here because of …” my music ambitions.
“Taty and I know each other from …” When I first moved to London, Taty showed me around this wonderful city. She was in school here back then.
“When family/friends come to visit, I always take them to … first” Primrose Hill: great views over the city! And a tip on Hyde Park: If you start from Park Lane and Hyde Park Corner, you will end up between all the tourists. But if you start from Kensington Gardens, you will hit the local scene.
“If I want to have an amazing breakfast/lunch/dinner, I go to …” Best coffee in town: Fazenda, a very small authentic bar. Breakfast/lunch: Murielle's Kitchen (not cheap!). Best pasta in London: La Papardella, by Earl’s Court. Best pizza: Santa Maria, in Ealing. Best hamburgers: Honest, small hamburger place not far from Oxford Circus.
“When the night is young, I go to …” Soho. Or 606 Club. If live music is your thing, there's no better place. Legendary basement where only the locals go but where all the great London musicians play... You have to book a table, or you won't get in if you're not a member. It's a basement with concrete floors and no two chairs look alike, but the food is good, and the atmosphere fantastic. A hidden gem in Chelsea.
“If I want to reflect, I go to …” The South Bank.
“My morning routine consists of …” English breakfast (without the beans …).
“I like the locals more than Belgians because …” The Brits are courteous and friendly, and they respect the cue.
“If I miss one thing here, it’s … “ fries with ‘curryworst’.
“If there’s one thing that frustrates me here, it’s …” that it can take up to 30 minutes to get somewhere, or even two hours for the same trip.
“I get inspired here by …” everything in the city.
“Since I live here, I’ve changed my mind about …” us Belgians: we have so many talents, and we’re actually great world citizens because we’re all-round, “jacks-of-all-trades”. It’s a pity we don’t always see ourselves that way.
“If I could go back in time, I would go grab a beer with … “ David Bowie.
“The one thing I’d like to accomplish still, is …” touring with Rod Stewart.
